Volunteering

Supporting my local community

Volunteering and community have been of utmost importance to me. I’m very community oriented, and one of my largest goals is to leave a footprint, whether it be in school, in my community, or even across the globe.

Frontline Workers

During March of 2020, when the world was devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic, I really wanted to thank the true heroes in our communities: the frontline workers. As a result, I started a Coronavirus fundraiser. I used both the money that others donated and my own saved up money to buy meals from local restaurants and send them to emergency room staff at different hospitals. I thought it would be a great way to help out the struggling local businesses while also saying thank you to the frontline workers! Additionally, I made handwritten cards with self made stickers and baked goods for the frontline workers!

I also sent baked, homemade bagels, and a handmade card to my neighbor’s house; she has always been a part of my life ever since I was a little girl and out families have been great friends for years. Even at the age of 78, she’s still a frontline worker and told us how tiring it was. I felt so empowered and touched by her. These were just some little things that I thought I could do to help bring some extra happiness and positivity into a true hero’s life.

Stepping Stones

I had the opportunity to work at a school for children with down syndrome. It was such a fun experience and the kids were adorable!

Unified Club

I’m also the Vice President of our school’s unified club for children with disabilities at my school. We hold lunch buddies every week, a time for students to eat lunch w/ students w disabilities and create close connections. Additionally, we help organize the special olympics and numerous fundraisers.
