Period Chapter at Millburn

In September of 2020, I co-founded the Period Chapter at my high school. Due to the adverse effects of Covid-19 on period poverty in both communities around me and the world, I decided it would be a good idea to start this club. Our club’s goal is to help fight to end period poverty through service, education, and advocacy. Our projects are described below.

Period Equality of NJ

I helped write a NJ Senate Bill that aims to provide free menstrual products in all NJ schools.

Fundraiser - June 2021

My team and I have held many successful fundraisers. One of our most successful fundraisers was in June 2021. At this fundraiser we collected $600 and hundred of period products. In the end we put together 441 period packages with 30 volunteers. Each pack contained 10-20 tampons/ maxi pads, a chapstick, and a handwritten note. The products and money were all donated to the local MEND Hunger Relief Network division at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

Nepal Project

Our current project is hosting a training session in Nepal on menstrual cleanliness. We plan to conduct this through Zoom and through having people there as well. Period Poverty is a large issue in Nepal so we are also raising reusable menstrual pads to donate.
